Java – JTetris
Download (.JAR) – Webstart
Requires Java to open
This is a project I undertook a couple of years ago, I think it was between my first and second year of university during the summer. I learnt a great deal from this as it was my first real experience at creating a more or less complete game from scratch and one of my first true accomplishments as a beginner programmer.
Features:
- Based on the rules of Tetris DS.
- Level progression, with increasing speed.
- Variable window sizes.
- Multi-coloured tetris blocks.
- Optional shadow-block hint.
- Optional next-block hint.
- Three options of background MIDI music (or none), speed of music increases rapidly based on the height of the blocks. NB. Midi music was somebody elses creation, not mine.
- Sound effects when a line disappears and when the level increases.
Note: I’ve just been made aware that in Vista the left/right movement is faster than it should be.
